Leave Of Absence

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both,
And be one traveler,….

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
(Robert Frost)

It is dificult to be a bureaucrat and a blogger at the same time.

Ok, it’s been over two months since I have been absent from my blog page. I must admit that a realization has finally dawned on me that it takes more than mere dedication and interest in blogging to keep the page alive. Time is one factor that is proving to be a deterrence. As a civil servant, one’s life is governed by the dictates of one’s superiors. Therefore, a bureaucrat in civil service is not a master of his own life because we must continuously keep on paying back the pound of flesh for the thick envelopes that we receive on a monthly basis. And rightly so! Thus, provision of public services must be the first and foremost and all pursuit of personal interests are secondary. Add to this, the personal feeling of uneasiness and weirdness at exposing too much about myself resulted in intermittent waning of interest in updating my blog. All these are factors, not excuses, which contributed to my lack of excitement and therefore, absence from my blog page.

I have heard so many times that If you're going to be a blogger, you have to blog! I now know that it takes discipline for most of us to write. I simply admire other fellow bloggers who can keep the flow and keep their pages regularly updated. Although I cannot match their sincerity, I shall, however, keep hoping that this dreary phase of my life will be over soon so that I may have the time and the desired inspiration to think, feel and act as a blogger so as to enable me to come back with a bang all over again. Till that time, kindly excuse my absence! I am off to take the road to work that is less travelled but which will, nevertheless, make "all the difference".
