Crying Babies

I had the picture of this cute crying baby as my laptop screen saver for quite some time now… and every time I open my laptop and gaze at it, I forget all my worries and a soothing wry smile envelopes all over my face. This baby is the chief factor for my good mood every morning which normally lasts for the entire day. I’m simply loving it!

Now, please don’t mistake me for a deranged person with a sadistic state of mind,  devoid of sentiment or pity. But for me, to see a child in extreme make-believe distress is quite entertaining in itself, which I cannot resist. The sight of children, be it mine or others, howling inconsolably, with their cute faces all distorted and creating tantrums for no discernible reason is simply fascinating and I would always take the opportunity to record it even at the cost of being an additional irritant to their parents!

I derive great joy in witnessing these persistent and inconsolable children with flushed and frustrated expressions, single-mindedly determined to refuse any efforts to comfort them and crying their lungs out for the heck of it. I know that my strange inclination is no help to the parents to ease their own distress at having to bear with their inconsolable children. But the sight of a crying child is something that I would not miss for the world!

Their adorable pain-like faces, with cryings in different tones which may be weaker, more urgent, continuous, or high-pitched are all music to my ears!

Experts say that crying is a baby's way of communicating needs (Farrell and Sittlington 2009, ICAN 2007) and ensuring a response from you (Farrell and Sittlington 2009). But for me, that response would be a quick flash of my camera and recording it as a sight to remember for a lifetime!

Atleast, the small boy below has more commonsense than me in realizing that consolation is what the crying baby needs!

Ok.. I think I have given myself enough carte blanche to portray all my collections in this blog without any authorization. So, before I get myself chased with broomsticks, I better sign off!

With due apology to the concerned parents, including my better half :-)
